Stranger In Town, by Raleigh, North Carolina based artist and sculptor Matt Byrd is a deconstructable book of risograph printed images. Byrd’s work is created by forming sculptures from found rock and granite each painstakingly carved and molded by hand. Within the book, Byrd’s process is laid out from initial sketches, to the sourced natural raw material, to the sculpture’s final form. The photographs are captured by NYC based photographer Marco Galloway, who has become a frequent collaborator of Byrd’s and features pieces made in the US and Switzerland in 2023.
